Bringing Dean back for a few months is a great idea. He knows the job and, most importantly, his 50-state strategy was effective. He wouldn't have time/money to implement that in a few months, but he could at least right the boat and get the fundraising restarted. While he did that, we'd need a campaign-style search for a DNC chair who is from a new generation with a strong understanding of digital media. Someone charismatic who can work the shows and podcasts, as well as the fundraising outreach. Neither one will happen, but it is what we need. While it would be great to bring that person in today, the reality is that someone from a new generation would need time to get up to speed and figure out how the organization works. We don't have that time.
From the way outside, it seems the best use of the DNC would be to organize and fund beyond the upcoming cycle and particularly how to we grow our presence and effectiveness in the 24 states that voted for Trump 3 times. That’s not a fix that can happen in a cycle and winning in ‘28 because voters are still demanding change and we’re the out party or we ride an anti-MAGA wave doesn’t do much to change the dynamic that there are some many places and states in which Democrats aren’t competitive.
I'm one of those everyday Democrats you mention. I was a comms director for the Virginia Democratic Party in '03 and '04. I didn't ask for an autopsy because the reasons why we lost were clear to me. So now we have this half baked report that looks like it was written by someone in middle school. Trump is burning down the country and Democrats managed to get headlines with this exercise in self-immolation. Well done, navel gazers. Now all the party chairs and local electeds know who to blame almost two years on. Great. Martin needs to go. No, we don't need Howard Dean FFS. Not him, not Obama, not the Clintons, not Crockett and AOC or for the love of God not Carville, not Harris. There must be new faces, new ideas and new ways. It is time for change.

The DNC should have hired Ben Wikler! Note, after 16 years of GOP rule, Wisconsin is on the verge of a blue trifecta!
Thanks for sharing your experience and expertise.

I am a Wikler honk; come on - outside of Stacey Abrams, it isn’t even close. Martin isn’t working out.
Yeah let’s change in the middle of a midterm . I swear yall have no faith in anything.
