When I ran against Randy Fine here in Brevard County FL, in a red district with loads of Blue voters who don’t vote - it was largely more successful for me as a candidate if I did my own thing instead of hanging out under the blue tent (events, etc) I’d have my own tent, wear red campaign shirts and tell Republicans who knew I was a Democrat that they didn’t own the color red or the American Flag. 🇺🇸. We’ve got a lot of work to do for sure! Thanks for your work. I enjoyed reading it
That's exactly right. Just go meet voters where they are. Thanks for carrying the torch. And I love Brevard -- we had some great Obama trips there back in the day (again, meeting voters where they are), and I even won a state house race back in my day in Cocoa!
Great piece, Steve, and I love seeing the numbers. Is it realistic to hope that in 2026, the Democratic Party in Florida will stand down and not nominate anyone for governor, allowing the independent to be the de facto Democrat? We almost won a Senate seat in Nebraska last fall with that strategy.

It really isn't up to the "party." They don't have any power to stop someone from running.
As always I appreciate your insights and humor. Thank you.
Thank you Becca!
